It's amazing how
one finds oneself in need of a bit of YUV manipulation software at
times.
For those not familiar with it, YUV is a sort of video format, and
there are many, many different specifications of it around. It is the
sort of equivalent to raw bitmaps for images; compression free, with
the various characteristics of each pixel being simply saved as they
are.
Equally, one might find oneself wanting to:
translate 4:2:2 YUV
to 4:2:0 YUV
getting the mean
square error or the psne error rating
transmitting
RGB/24-bit video streams to raw yuv,
translating BGR to
raw YUV, or to RGB
get a bit of basic
information about AVI files
or produce a
composite black and white error image from the Y stream of dumped
frames of supposedly identical movies, in order to express the
differences between the pre and post compression frames.
